Internet-driven real estate transactions have created unantcipated service
challenges for licensees and consumers alike. In the past, licensees best
served consumers by personally identifying and supplying real estate services
that meet their needs and desires. However, the relative anonymity of the Web
makes it difficult to survey consumers about, much less satisfy, those
desires. In addition, Internet-empowered consumers today are faced with a
dizzying array of offerings - from property and neighborhood research, to
obtaining financial and insurance services, to closing transactions online -
that threaten to overwhelm and confuse them, or leave them feeling insecure.
This course recognizes the growing ranks of e-Buyers as a breed of client
that requires specialized representation. It attempts to help licensees
understand e-Buyers' motivations, address their concerns, allay their fears,
and assist in making their online transactional experience efficient and
effective.
This is a full-day course. It fulfills 7 hours of the 14 hours of
mandatory continuing education (MCE) required by the Pennsylvania State Real
Estate Commission for salesperson's or broker's license renewal in the
2002-2004 renewal period. This course is also known by the title
"The e-Buyer" and is
a supplemental elective to earn the Accredited Buyer Representative
designation.
