Real estate licensees usually serve consumers’ interests best when they refer
clients to appropriate and specific expertise if a need arises during the course of a transaction.
While laws and litigation on national, state, and local levels alike continue to change
the practice of real estate, information overload often prohibits licensees from keeping fully abreast of
these changes. Yet, to be truly effective in making referrals, licensees must at least be aware
of and familiar with current and evolving subjects so they can alert consumers to potential problems.
“Putting Consumers’ Interests First (I)” offers licensees a fast-paced survey of 30 different legal issues that face today’s buyers and sellers of residential real estate. It focuses specifically on national and state court decisions that affect how home owners can, and cannot, use their properties; on new or changed forms and documents licensees can expect to encounter in future agreements of sales; and on proposed or newly enacted legislation that further preserves the rights of buyers and sellers.
This is a half-day course. It fulfills 3-1/2 hours of the 14 hours of
mandatory continuing education (MCE) required by the Pennsylvania State Real
Estate Commission for salesperson's or broker's license renewal in the
2002-2004 renewal period.
Polley Associates also offers a commercial real
estate version of this course, titled "Putting Commercial
Clients' Interests First," in both 3-1/2-hour (half-day) and 7-hour
full-day) formats. Its content is geared solely and exclusively to licensees
working in commercial real estate, and excludes any residential-related
topics.
