To renew
a broker's and salesperson's
license ...
... a licensee must obtain 14
hours of Mandatory Continuing
Education (MCE).
Only brokers, associate
brokers, and salespersons seeking
to renew their licenses are
required to complete the MCE
requirement. New licensees are
exempt from the MCE requirement if
their license is issued after Dec.
1 of the year preceding the renewal deadline.
Hours for MCE
instruction may be obtained at
Polley Associates.
All 14 hours may be taken in
elective courses. For license renewal, the
Pennsylvania State Real Estate
Commission has discontinued the
need for the 7-hour
"required" course it
demanded in earlier periods.
Ninety percent of live
classroom MCE sessions
must be attended for course
credit. One hundred percent of
online MCE sessions
must be completed for course
credit. The Commission requires a
photo ID for attendance
verification in live classroom
settings. Failure to comply
can void course approval.
If your license is in escrow,
the 14 hours of MCE must be taken
before activating the license.
You have two options to fulfill
the requirement:
- Option 1: Take any live
or online
elective MCE
courses (totaling 14 hours) during the renewal
period;
- Option 2: Take any Broker
Elective Course of 15 or
30 hours.
