Course Confirmation

Understanding the construction basics of residential real estate is essential to working in any aspect of the residential real property world.

Students will review the history of architecture and design prevalent within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and identify roof designs, examine blue prints and floor plans, and evaluate building components and material uses. They will also summarize pre-construction essential knowledge and steps, such as pertinent laws and site preparation, including environmental and zoning regulations. After a full overview of the construction process and specifics, students will examine mechanical systems, review amenities beyond structure, and identify structural defects that can occur.

This is a 14-hour course. It is approved by the PA State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers for 14 hours of toward recertification requirements, due June 30, 2023. It is Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission- developed for 14 hours of continuing education towards license renewal requirements due May 31, 2024. It does not cover any mandatory topic that may be prescribed by the Real Estate Commission within a given cycle.
