New Jersey’s Instructions On The Subject
For Pennsylvania-licensed real estate salespersons who wish to obtain a sales license in New Jersey, the New Jersey State Real Estate Commission has issued a one-page guide on the topic (below).
Pennsylvania Licensees
PENNSYLVANIA SALESPERSON WANTS TO
BECOME LICENSED AS A NEW JERSEY SALESPERSON
First Option:
- Come to New Jersey and take the 75-hour pre-licensure course and follow the normal procedures for licensure.
This includes:
- Attend all classes
- Pass a school final examination
- Pass the State examination (Candidates must pass both portions of the exam simultaneously, this includes State and National)
Second Option:
- Received PA License BEFORE the 2018 Rule Change
- Take 15 hours of a Broker pre-licensure course in Pennsylvania at a school approved
by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission. - Complete a New Jersey Salesperson Waiver Application
- Submit a current Certificate of Licensure from the Pennsylvania Real Estate
Commission (an original document issued within 30 days) - Attach a transcript certifying the successful completion of the 15-hour Broker course
(transcripts must state that these credits would be applied toward the Broker
credits required in Pennsylvania) - Submit a money order or certified check for $25.00 (non-refundable processing fee)
- Pass the State examination (Candidates must pass both portions of the exam
simultaneously, this includes State and National)
- Received PA License AFTER the 2018 Rule Change
- Complete a New Jersey Salesperson Waiver Application
- Submit a current Certificate of Licensure from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission (an original document issued within 30 days)
- Submit a money order or certified check for $25.00 (non-refundable processing fee)
- Pass the State examination (Candidates must pass both portions of the exam simultaneously, this includes State and National)

- Request a “Certificate of License History from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission (referred to above by New Jersey as a “Certificate of Licensure – ordered through your PALS account). The Certificate of License History cannot be more than 30 days old at the time of application.
If your waiver is approved by New Jersey, you will be required to take both the national and state portions of the state licensing exam. If you prefer to study from a book:
